Muscle, brains, and personality that’s the rallying cry of the Mister Africa International pageant with the search once again on for the most enticing young man in Africa. The pageant focuses on looking for a winner that can not only charm and impress the judges but has the ability to be a model for youth empowerment and carry out humanitarian activities. 2018 is the 7th and most exciting edition of the pageant to date, being held in Nigeria for a second time at the PelicanInternational Hotel in Lagos on the 2nd of December.
30 delegates from over 20countries spanning the continent and Europe will arrive in Nigeria to participate in the contest, showing off their physical fitness, answering questions in high-pressure interviews, and displaying their intellectual prowess. The winner of the upcoming Mister Africa will have the opportunity to travel to different countries, cover FITFAM magazine, win an international modeling contract and be awarded prize money. Some of the past winners have hailed from Sierra Leone, Angola, Botswana, Rwanda and South Sudan.
AfrilandEnt had the exciting opportunity to catch up with Jason, the sole contestant in the tournament representing Ghana. Jason, the 2017 winner of Mr. Model Africa, describes his excitement and anticipation for the contest, “It’s an opportunity for me move up a step in my modeling career through the exposure and experience that comes with the competition.” Ghana has previously held the crown, when actor and model Ian Wordi won the pageant in 2015. Jason is eager to bring the title back home, determined to give his best throughout this prestigious competition and achieve the ultimate goal.
He is thankful to have been nominated and embraces the new challenge in his career. Preparing daily for fast-approaching date, we wanted to know the scoop – how does Jason plan on representing Ghana to the fullest? “There’s a cultural costume segment where each contestant has to showcase a national costume of their respective countries. I am planning to display a national costume that depicts the rich and extensive culture ofGhana, but I don’t want to reveal all the tricks up my sleeve!” All the best of luck to Jason and all the participants of the 7th edition of Mister AfricaInternational 2018.
